OVERCOME

OVERCOME was created for F/W2020 and was shown at the Fashion by Texas Virtual Austin Fashion Week on October 15th, 2020. The purpose of OVERCOME is to raise awareness for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. This three look capsule collection was designed to portray the stages a victim of domestic violence or sexual assault experiences. This collection includes a suit printed with the words Jennifer spoke in court at the sentencing of her abuser. Jennifer also put out a request for other survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault to submit to her anonymously words in their own handwriting that describe their journey, as well as their thumbprints. Jennifer digitized these submissions and designed a textile print out of them, creating the final look of the collection. The "Rise Up" suit was created in FT4403 as a school assignment, but the rest of the collection was created outside of school. OVERCOME premiered at Fashion by Texas Virtual Austin Fashion Week Fall 2020.
